Training Harder and Why it Matters!

You probably go to the gym, spin or even a barre type of class and notice that the effort is good, but not out of your comfort zone good. This is probably why a lot of individuals gravitated towards crossfit when it started out back in the early 2000’s. One of the big reasons is that it is a challenging type of workout and it pushes you out of your comfort zone. When done right, it produces amazing results. The great thing that this did for all of fitness is that it reminded everyone that you need to push yourself. You need to always push yourself out of the comfort zone and just hang out there for a little bit. Even if it is for 5 minutes, it will produce amazing results. You do not want to be ordinary, ordinary is boring! You want to be better. You want your body to be better. That is why everyone wants that secret pill or magic formula, but there is none! Its called hard work, sweating bullets and feeling that lactic acid.  When you training here are some simple rules to follow:

  1. Increase the resistance and/or speed
  2. You should sweat
  3. Your muscles should feel it! Not pain, but a good burn – a feeling that they were working.
  4. Soreness is okay! Its called DOMS (delayed onset muscular soreness) – it is normal!
  5. When you train hard, you must take a day off every few days to rest the body! The body needs to recover – recovery is good! That is when you get positive gains.
